Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) were called out at the request of the emergency services on Tuesday 18 June, following an incident at a property in Kirkland Walk, in Middlesbrough.

Steve Pigott, Business Operations Lead for NGN said: “Our emergency engineers arrived on site quickly and made the situation safe.

“We’re supporting the emergency services with their investigations and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have confirmed that the incident was not gas network related.

“Our thoughts remain with the person injured in the explosion and all those impacted in the local area.”

Anyone that smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999. This line is in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
