The bill breakdown:

The energy regulator, Ofgem, oversees and approves the prices that Northern Gas Networks can charge gas shippers to move gas through our pipes on behalf of the gas suppliers – the companies that customers buy energy from.

Today £152∗ of the average annual gas bill pays for the distribution services we provide.  That’s £13 a month.

We invest that money to keep our network in good condition, keep people safe and ensure the gas keeps flowing, to provide a fast and efficient emergency response service, to reduce carbon emissions and to ensure we deliver fantastic customer service while developing low carbon energy solutions for the future.

By investing our profits to make our business run more smoothly, we ensure that we keep prices to a minimum without compromising our high levels of service.

∗This figure will vary throughout the eight year regulatory period from 2021 – 2026, based on a number of cost factors during a given year.
