Who we are
We are Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England. Our vision is for a fairer, greener future for our region.
We own and maintain more than 37,000 km of gas pipes, serving 2.9 million homes and businesses.
Our core role is to move gas around the region safely and efficiently. We do this by investing in our pipe network, maintaining it day-to-day and responding quickly to gas escapes.
However, we do so much more. We work with partner organisations to support customers who may be struggling with fuel poverty and various forms of vulnerability, helping them access essential services and warm home.
We are evolving our business to meet the challenges of net zero by developing renewable forms of gas, such as hydrogen.
Also, we pride ourselves on consistently being the most efficient gas network in the UK. We harness technology, invest in colleague development and foster fantastic relations with local contractors, ensuring that our customer’s money goes further.
Our actions today will lay the foundations for an equitable transition to net zero, for the benefit of everyone in our region.
