Normal gas supplies restored to customers in Bedlington

Engineers have now restored normal gas supplies to around 278 properties in Bedlington after low pressure issues were reported on Thursday night effecting around 330 homes in the area.

Teams will continue to work this evening and on Saturday morning to gain access to properties and any customers who are not at home have been left a card with details of the connections team.

The Customer Support Hub at Bedlington Masonic Hall is now closed, however, engineers will remain on site throughout the evening for any customers requiring additional support.

Work to restore normal gas supply to properties in Bedlington is underway

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) are restoring normal gas supply to around 330 properties in Bedlington, NE22 6HJ (Friday 11th October 2024), after low pressure issues were reported on Thursday night.

 

Investigations using specialist camera technology found a blockage in the gas main, which NGN teams were able to locate and remove this afternoon.

 

Engineers are now going door to door to visit impacted customers, carrying out purge and relights to ensure their gas supply has returned to normal.

 

The Customer Support Hub at Bedlington Masonic Hall is now closed however NGN engineers will remain on site throughout the evening for any customers requiring additional support.

 

NGN Business Operations Manager Michael Pratt said: “Our teams will be visiting all affected properties throughout this evening, however if you’ve just returned home to a card from us, please call the Customer Care team on 0800 040 7766 option 4 and we’ll send an engineer straight round.

 

“We’d like to thank residents for their patience and support as we worked to resolve this issue as safely and quickly as possible.”

Incident hub set up to support customers experiencing low gas pressure in Bedlington

Around 300 properties in the NE22 6HJ area have been experiencing low gas pressure since Thursday night (10th October 2024).

Safety is our priority and engineers are on site and working hard to return the gas supply to affected properties to normal as quickly as possible.

We have set up an incident hub at Bedlington Masonic Hall where affected customers can speak to members of the NGN team and collect heaters and hotplates to use while they are without gas.

Alternatively you can contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 and select option 4 or speak to an engineer on site.

We will continue to provide regular updates directly to residents and on our website and social media channels.
