Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, has been carrying out essential gas mains replacement work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Hull.

The ageing metal pipework is being upgraded to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now, while getting the network ready to transport alternative fuels in the future.

We are pleased to confirm the five-week project has been completed slightly ahead of the planned completion date of August 11th.

The County Road North road closure will remain in place while NGN’s specialist reinstatement team fill in the holes and resurface the road. This is expected to take around two days, with another five days required for the surface to harden. We aim to have the road fully reopened at 5pm on Wednesday 7th August.

A signed diversion will be in place for motorists and access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.

Chris Keith, Operations Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience during these essential works, as we  aim to reopen the road as quickly as possible.”

For further information about the work please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.

Anyone that smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999. This line is in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
