The ageing metal pipework is now being replaced by new, more durable plastic pipes, to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now while getting the network ready to transport alternative greener fuels in the future.
The work began Monday 16th October and is almost halfway through the seven-week duration, with Wednesday Market/Highgate/Lord Roberts Road work complete.
Our specialist reinstatement team is underway, Lord Roberts Road traffic lights will be removed on Saturday 4th November and Highgate Road closure will be removed Tuesday 7th November.
Our engineers are currently on St Johns Road, and work should be finished on Tuesday 7th November, moving onto Eastgate ad Minster Yard North.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, Temporary traffic management will be put in place.
Traffic lights
Traffic light will be in implemented on Eastgate from Wednesday 8th November for two weeks.
Road closures
Road closures will be implemented on Minster Yard North from Thursday 9th November for two weeks, and Flemingate on Monday 20th November for two weeks.
Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, and a signed diversion route will be in place for motorists.
During the Flemingate road closure, water filled barriers will be in place across the railway lines but will be accessible for cyclists and pedestrians.

However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Beverley.
“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this essential scheme as safely and as quickly as possible.”
