From Tuesday 3rd January the North of England’s gas distributor Northern Gas Networks (NGN), will be upgrading the gas distribution network on Great North Road in Micklefield.

The 16 week project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the gas infrastructure in the area and involves reinforcement work to the gas network to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

Work will start on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 on pit lane after being planned in conjunction with Leeds City Council.

In order for engineers to carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect members of the public, it will be necessary to have in place two-way traffic signals – with the potential of three-way traffic signals required at certain points if required – due to the location of the gas main.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and engineering teams will be working full time Monday – Friday.

Matthew Pursell, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have worked closely with Leeds City Council to plan these essential works.

“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience customers may encounter and thank everyone for their support as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”
