Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the North of England’s gas distributor, is carrying out critical work on a gas main at the junction of Johnson Street and Derwentwater Road in Gateshead, up to the roundabout at Clockmill Road.

The 12-week project involves essential reinforcement to the gas network in order to continue the safe and reliable supply of gas to the area.

Darren Pearson, Site manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced as we work to get this essential work completed as safely and as quickly as possible. We will keep businesses and road users updated throughout the work.”
