Emergency repair work to a damaged gas installation in Snaith near Goole has been completed overnight and Ferry Lane is open to traffic as normal.
Engineers working for Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, carried out the work following third-party damage. The road was closed by the police as a precaution and re-opened just after midnight.
Russ Kaye, Business Operations Lead for NGN, said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but we appreciate customers bearing with us.”
NGN engineers adhered to strict government guidance for safe distance working.
Anyone that smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999. This line is in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
