Drivers in Snaith near Goole are being asked to avoid the Ferry Lane area as Northern Gas Networks (NGN) engineers work to repair a damaged gas installation.
NGN, the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out the emergency work following third-party damage, and the road has been closed by the police as a precaution.
Russ Kaye, Business Operations Lead for NGN, said: “We realise that this work may cause delays and we’re doing everything we can to repair the damage as safely and quickly as possible. We’re asking motorists to find alternative routes if they can, or to allow extra time for their journey. We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but we appreciate customers bearing with us while we carry out this emergency work.”
NGN engineers will be adhering to strict government guidance for safe distance working during the coronavirus outbreak.
Anyone that smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999. This line is in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
