The North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is continuing work to upgrade the gas distribution network in Northaram. Work is currently taking place on Bradford Road, Westercroft Lane, Lydgate and Back Clough.
The project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the area’s gas infrastructure. Engineers will be replacing 5km of old metal gas pipes with new, more durable plastic versions, to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come
The project has been carefully planned in conjunction with Calderdale Council to minimise any disruption to traffic and residents.
Work began in January and is scheduled to last for 60 weeks. In order for the works to be carried out safely and efficiently, temporary three-way traffic lights were introduced on Bradford Road, Lydgate and Back Clough on 15thOctober, and will be in place for three weeks.
A temporary road closure on Westercroft Lane is also in place for the same duration, with a full signed diversion for motorists.
NGN’s Customer Care Officers have been door-knocking residents and businesses to make customers aware of the work, while on-site signage advises motorists of the work taking place.
Regular updates are available on NGN’s website northerngasnetworks.co.uk, Twitter @NGNgas and Facebook @northerngasnetworks.
Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual throughout the project.
Matt Judge, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have been working closely with Calderdale Council to carefully plan these works and are doing all we can to minimise disruption to customers.
“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience customers may encounter and thank everyone for their support as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”
