From 10am today (Friday 27 July), Kirkstall Hill in Leeds will be closed between Eden Road and Eden Drive so that Northern Gas Networks, the North of England’s gas distributor, can carry out emergency gas main repair work.
The work is scheduled to be completed by 4pm on Sunday (29 July). During this time a diversion route will be in place via Cardigan Road and Kirkstall Lane or via Willow Road and Kirkstall Road.
NGN was carrying out replacement work upgrading the area’s metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes when engineers discovered that the emergency repair work was needed. This will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come. Once the emergency work has been completed, work will begin on St Anne’s Lane and Burley Road.
Russell Horner, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these emergency works, but we can assure residents and road users that we will complete them as safely and as a quickly as possible.”
