From Monday 18 June, the North of England’s gas distributor Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will be upgrading the gas distribution network on Belasis Avenue, Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees.
The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development in the gas infrastructure in the area. This will ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.
The 18-week project has been carefully planned in conjunction with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to minimise the impact caused. The project will also roll into the school holidays when traffic in the area to be lighter than normal.
In order to complete the scheme safely and efficiently it will be necessary to implement various traffic measures. Temporary two, three or four-way traffic lights will be in place on Marsh House Avenue, along to Cowpen Lane and progressing to Belasis Avenue.
Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual.
Nigel Pearson, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have been working closely with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise disruption to customers.
“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience customers may encounter and thank everyone for their support as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”
