Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work in Pontefract to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes.
This work will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Pontefract, keeping homes and businesses safe, warm and connected.
The project, which is expected to last around six weeks, has been planned in collaboration with Wakefield Council. So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some temporary traffic management measures have been put in place.
From Monday 17 March, temporary traffic lights are in place on Wakefield Road/A645, starting at the junction of Lynwood Close, then moving east along Wakefield Road/A645 towards Featherstone for the duration of the project.
Chris Reed, Business Operations Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it’s vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Pontefract.”
