Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Thirsk.
The ageing metal pipework is being upgraded to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now and in the future.
Work will begin on Monday 22 July and is scheduled to take 15 weeks to complete and has been planned in collaboration with North Yorkshire County Council.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some temporary traffic management will be put in place.
Temporary traffic lights will be implemented on Sowerby Road/Topcliffe Road/Station Road/Westgate roundabout from Monday 22 July for 3 weeks.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place along Topcliffe Road from Monday 5 August for 4 weeks.
Temporary traffic lights and restricted parking on Sowerby Road from Monday 27 August for 6 weeks.
Temporary traffic lights on Station Road from Monday 7 October for 4 weeks.
Mark Mawhood, Operations Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Thirsk.
“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this essential scheme as safely and as quickly as possible.”
