Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the Halifax area.
The gas main in being prioritised for replacement following a number of repairs. The new more durable plastic pipes will ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.
The work will begin on 22 July 2024 and is expected to last for approximately 3 weeks. It has been planned in collaboration with Calderdale Council.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place.
There will be a road closure on Law Lane by The Pack Hors and there will be no access from Law Lane onto Cain Lane and vice a versa while work takes place. A signed diversion will be in place and NGN is making road users aware by signposting the upcoming work using advance notification signage.
Chris Green, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses in Halifax.
“The traffic management that we are putting in place is for the safety of everyone and it’s important that motorists drive with care and follow the signage in place.
“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this essential scheme as safely and as quickly as possible.”
