Engineers from the North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), are carrying out emergency repairs to a gas pipe on Stockton Road, Dalton-le-Dale in Seaham.
In order to carry out the work safely and efficiently, temporary three-way traffic lights are in place on Stockton Road at the junction with the B1432. They are expected to remain in place until Sunday 28 April while engineers complete the repair work.
Due to expected traffic congestion over the weekend and peak times weekdays the site will be manned by NGN traffic management partners to reduce congestion wherever possible.
Paul Meadley, Operations Manager for Tees at Northern Gas Networks said:
“Our engineers have been working to complete a complex repair to a gas pipe on Stockton Road in Dalton-le-Dale. We’re working with specialist teams to carry out the repair and expect the work to take a further two weeks to complete.
“Due to the nature of the work you won’t always see us on site, but we’re continuing to monitor the pipe and are doing everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.
“There is no impact on gas supplies to homes and businesses in the area.”
