Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers around the Heighington Lane area of Newton Aycliffe.
Work to replace a gas main in this street will start on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 on the roundabout at the junction of Long Tens Way and Heighington Lane (B6444)
To keep our engineers and the public safe, temporary four-way traffic lights will be in place lights on the roundabout, which will then follow the work and drop to two-way lights on Heighington Lane. More four-way lights will then be required on the roundabout which joins St Andrews Way and Heighington Lane.
The work will last approximately 9 weeks in total. Signs will be displayed for motorists before and during the works but delays can be expected in the area, especially at commute times.
Stewart Whitehead, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this scheme as safely and as quickly as possible.”
