Northern Gas Networks (NGN) the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out emergency repairs to a gas main on the A695 to the west of Riding Mill this evening (Saturday 17th September 2022).
A road closure is in place and a diversion route will be introduced. Teams are onsite and will be working to carry out repairs to the medium pressure gas main. There is no interruption to gas supplies in the area.
Steve Pigott, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks said: “Engineers were on site quickly to make the situation safe and there is no impact on local gas supplies. So we can carry out the repair as quickly and safely as possible, we’ve had a close a section of the A695 to the west of Riding Mill.
“We fully appreciate the inconvenience this may cause and apologise for the disruption but the closure is essential for protecting the safety of members of the public and our workforce while the repair is underway.”
