Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is carrying out essential work in Beacon Edge, Penrith. The work is part of our routine planned upgrade work in the town.
The pipework is being reinforced to accommodate future demand which will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area and has not been prompted by a gas escape.
So that our engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect members of the public, traffic management measures have been put in place. This is common practice during routine gas mains upgrade work.
On Wednesday 3rd August, Beacon Edge was temporarily closed from its junction with Fell Lane. Traffic lights have been put in place at the junctions of Beacon Edge with Wordsworth Street and Lowther Street. It is anticipated that the road will be closed for approximately two weeks and that the ongoing essential work will continue until early Winter.
Dean Full, Business Operations Lead for The North, said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. Safety is our priority and we would like to reassure customers that there is no danger to members of the public.”
