Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North, is carrying out emergency repairs to the gas network on the North Approach of Pelton Fell Road in Chester le Street.
Due to the location of the gas main underneath the road, and to keep engineers and members of the public safe, temporary traffic lights have been introduced at the junction of Whitehill Way so the repair can be carried out.
Andy Coates, site manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority, and introducing temporary lights is essential for keeping the public and our workforce safe at all times.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We will keep residents and road users updated throughout the work,.”
