Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, will now be carrying out essential upgrade work on Hanson Lane, Halifax in early 2022.
The project to replace an old metallic gas main had previously been scheduled to begin under a road closure this week, on 15th July.
However, following further investigation of the main and taking the impact of other streetworks projects elsewhere in Halifax into account, the decision has been taken by NGN and Calderdale Council to reschedule the work to take place early next year.
Matt Cordingley, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise for any confusion that rescheduling the project may cause.
“We will be returning in the new year to complete out these essential works, in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Halifax, however this decision means we can prioritise more urgent works elsewhere in the town and minimise disruption to customers.
“We want to assure residents and road users that we will be working hard to complete this essential scheme as safely and as quickly as possible when we do return.”
