Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the North of England’s gas distributor, will begin essential gas mains reinforcement work on Gateshead Road, Gateshead Monday 23rd September 2019 until Friday 1st November 2019.
The work has been carefully planned in collaboration with Gateshead Council to minimise disruption to customers and road users. In order for engineers to complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, it will be necessary to use temporary three way traffic lights on the junction of Gateshead Road (A692) and Pennyfine Road then two way lights following the work on Gateshead Road.
Stuart Armin, construction manager at Northern Gas Networks, said “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority, and closing the inside lane is essential in ensuring the public and our workforce stay safe at all times.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We will keep road users updated throughout the work.”
