The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £475K to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network on Wincolmlee, Hull.
The project, which began on 4 February, is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing over 400m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.
Due to engineering complications, the project will be extended until 1 July 2019. The existing road closure which extends from the junction of Station Drive cycle path to the junction of Fountain Road, will remain in place until Monday 1 July in order for engineers to carry out the work safely and efficiently.
A full signed diversion is in place for motorists and all electronic traffic boards throughout the Hull area are displaying the latest information.
This extension has been planned in conjunction with Hull City Council.Dave Johnson, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said “We would like to thank all our customers for their patience while we carry out work to modernise the gas network in Wincolmlee. We are very sorry for the inconvenience the work is causing and we’re doing every we can to complete the project as soon as possible’’.
